I don't use one either, and my water line pressure is 105 PSI. I do think I 
need one, however, because I am starting to leak at the bushing for the lever. 
Maybe others can comment on whether or not this is a wear part usually? My 
machine is about five years old, so I wouldn't be surprised if the bushing had 
worn by now.
