Hello, I've had a Brewtus IIIv, non-plumbed, for a couple years now. I'm curious about what happens if I move the lever to the middle pre-infuse position. I've looked at cutaway diagrams of the E-61, but I just can't quite visualize exactly what's happening here, but this is what I'm observing...
Unexpectedly (as I don't have line pressure), I do get pre-infusion water (continuously, for as long as I leave the lever there). It's not useful however as it causes the brew boiler temperature to climb above set point. So I lift the lever to halfway and water starts to trickle flow. The steam heat light comes on, and I hear boiling sounds. Periodically the pump will re-pressurize the steam boiler. Also unexpectedly the temperature on the PID starts climbing above set point. I don't know what the limits/extend are but I've generally aborted after a minute/~8oz/209deg F. If I recall, frequently, moving the lever fully up at this point doesn't result in a primed pour but a period at ~4bar for some time until it works through whatever (air/steam bubbles?), and returns to 9bar. So other than as a curiosity to observe, it's not overly useful to linger in the mid position. Can someone shed some light on what I'm observing? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
