I think our Brewtus 1's are aging.  I have experienced identical problems 
with my machine.  
 
Does your machine get real quiet when you backflush?  I always worry that 
machine is building pressure and is going to explode.
 
Respond back if you ever fixed this problem, as I am about to purchase a 
new machine.
