Hi all,

I just received a refurbed Brewtus IV from WLL.

I had to adjust the brew pressure right off the bat from about 7.5 bar to
10 bar. With the blind basket in, as I turned the adjustment screw, the
response on the gauge was very slow. Much slower than I would have
expected. I did manage to get it to hold at approx 10 bar.

So then when I brew...the pressure seems to hold at around 8 bar. It also
occasionally drops off to 4 bar and then comes back up...it doesn't seem to
climb past 8 bar.

Shots seem to be pouring ok however,

Questions

   1. How fast should the vibe pump's response time be (indicated by gauge
pressure) when you turn the adjustment screw with blind basket inserted?
   2. If slow response time is not normal...my first guess would be a pump
problem? I'd think that an overpressure situation with the OPV opening
would show quick drops and then slow return to max pressure.
   3. Where does the OPV relieve pressure too? The IV P only has one line
(suction) from the res. I'm guessing it relieves to the suction side of the
   pump?

I'm just trying to get a sense of how this thing should be working. I seem
to be able to get good shots out of her. But I don't want to have a sudden
failure that I can head off at the pass.

Any insight or advice would be of great help! I'm an engineer and I work
with this stuff all day long so I might be overthinking it but thats how
these things go.

Thanks!

-J
