Yes Mike--that photo is the end that would normally be outside the machine--I 
just have it tucked inside.  In the closeup photo, the very top nut (silver in 
color) is the "external" or "distal" end of the stainless hose.  Looking at my 
own photo, I am relatively certain there is no teflon tape on that joint.  I 
believe the stainless line should have a black rubber gasket inside the nut, as 
would be typical for this type of water line i.e. for a toilet or sink.  I 
already closed the case, sorry, but if you need me to pull it apart again I can.

Also, I'm pretty certain that all the mess in between the stainless and the ice 
maker/water line was included from WLL--but I'd just take the stainless line 
and your water line to the hardware store and find a solution that fits.
