I removed the elements from my early b2, took some doing. I had been warned on
here so didnt even try at home.

Removing heating element: i went to local (old school) gas station with a
stack of towels. Put it into their giant vice wrapped lovingly and hit it with
their impact wrench. Super loud it rattled for about 30 seconds of short bursts
without moving, then a bit of smoke from the interface. I kept giving it 1-2
second bursts and it smoking. The sucker took serious torque almost to the end
of the threading. Maybe 3 minutes each to remove. Impressive glue and foul
smoke.

At home i chased the threads with a pick, the burned glue was brittle and easy
to get out.

Descale: mine sat for a few days but was still full of visible chunks. With
opening from heating element i broke up the chunks with a screwdriver and they
poured out. I scraped out the boiler then let it sit longer until it was devoid
of minersls, i think a few more days.

Reinstall new element, i used teflon tape and its been fine for years. And i
know i can replace using a wrench.

I had a bad element so had to replace, i did both because it took much less
time to do them both at once. Much easier to descale with element out.
