Yeah, that definitely tests outside of normal range and I think you have found your problem!
Yes, the element gets sealed in place and the expobar solution is sort of a liquid that goes on the threads. If you use that, be warned that it sets up very quickly so you have to move quickly to tighten it to the point you want. I hate the stuff personally and never use it. I typically do the yellow Teflon tape with Teflon paste over the top of that and have not ever had a leak at this point across several machines and 20 years. But, having said that, I’m sure I’ll get a leak now! ;) regular white Teflon tape works also, but you just need more wraps.
