I'm a newbie trying to use some ablilties of the bridge. First of all, I'd like to congratulate you for the great job you made :)
Here is my problem : I've got the following configuration
- a range of addresses from my ISP 190.200.210.144/28
- the ISP's router is 190.200.210.158
- all my machines have an address unreacheable from Internet (10.5.1.0)
- my bridge is between my first machine and my ISP's router. I want it to do some NAT and filtering (I set it to DNAT evrey packet to 190.200.210.144 to destination 10.5.1.1).
-------------------
| ISP's Router |
| 190.200.210.158 |
-------------------
|
|
| eth0
---------------
|Bridge : br0 |
| no IP |
---------------
| eth1
|
|
---------------
| 1st machine |
| 10.5.1.1 |
---------------The problem is that I need that my bridge answer the ARP request for the address 190.200.210.145. I test differents possiblities :
I try to add the address to the interface eth0 (ip addr add 190.200.210.145 dev eth0), I also try on br0 (ip addr add 190.200.210.145 dev br0).
I try to add some Proxy ARP (ip route add nat 190.200.210.144/28 via 10.5.1.0 table local).
None of these works.
The only thing that works is to add the address to my 1st machine (ip addr add 190.200.210.145 dev eth0). But for security reason I don't want that.
My configuration is the following :
Kernel 2.4.19 + bridge-nf-0.0.7-against-2.4.19.diff.
two EtherExpress pro 100 nics.
bridge-utils-0.9.6
iproute2-2.4.7Thanks.
Phil
