Hi, I'm trying to document the statistics that are produced from a brctl showstp command, and have a few remaining questions. Unfortunately I am looking at a stand-alone bridge (STP enabled - Root bridge obviously), so can't see stats for a network.
I'd appreciate it if someone could provide more assistance with the following: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Under the BRIDGE stats portion of brctl showstp root port 0 ???? (I assume this is the path cost to root from the bridge's root port - 0 in this case, as bridge is root. Is this correct?). path cost 0 ????? (not sure exactly what path cost is being indicated under the BRIDGE stats as a whole? I understand separate costs for each port) And - a related question - are any default path costs based on the old standard of 1 Gbps/IF speed (i.e., 100 Mbps interface has a default cost of 10 = 1000/100), or are they based on the newer standard of non-linear costs weighted on speed (i.e., 100 Mbps interface has a default cost of 19). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Under the PORT stats portion of brctl showstp: designated costs flag 0?????? Have no idea what this stat is. Thanks in advance for any help, Regards, George E.
