Oh, I can hardly dispute that Earth is a fabulous novel.  It might just be
one of the best novels I've ever read; I have yet to find anything else that
is quite like it.

It just seems to lack literary depth.  I suppose in that respect it might be
likened to Robert J. Sawyer's works, but to a much, much lesser degree.

KSR's Red Mars was very solid, but his Blue and Green Mars followed a
similiar path to the latter Gaia part of Earth.  Fantastic drivel.
