Sorry Gord, but that 19,000 number as far as I know, also includes mistakenly punched
ballots that were caught by the voter, and replaced with a clean ballot.

Additionally, many Americans (hard as this is to believe) intentionally spoil their
ballot by double-punching as a way of protesting the two-party system in this country.
In 1996, the same county had 15,000 spoiled ballots. This year, Cook County, IL
(home of Chicago, and Bill Daley, Gore's campaign chairman) had 130,000 spoiled
ballots.

I am saying that those people who are demanding a new election are unreasonable, due
to the inherent difficulties in such an election.

I am also saying that those people who say that the ballot was unreasonable, are being
dumber than school children, who seemed perfectly able to fill them out.

Yes, the ballot caused mistakes among people who tried to vote too quickly, who did
not take their time in carefully considering their choice. Although this is
unfortunate (and a decent argument to not use such ballots again), it is hardly an
argument for calling these voters "disenfranchised."

Geesh, guys.... take a joke.

I agree with you about the air conditioning system though..... hopefully this will
finally get our country to wake up and modernize are antiquated vote-casting system.
I've felt this way every since moving to Maryland last year and casting a ballot by
punch-card for the first time.
