You had me until #9. We need to import *more* roundabouts, not ban them from
our subordinates across the pond.
The traffic gods stuffed one in near my house along a heavily travelled
road. It was great. Occasionally you'd see someone turning 720 or more
degrees before figuring it out. My wife reported one elderly driver parked
*on the central hump* and looking very confused.
But that's just the one. Alas, instead of roundabouts everywhere we're
plagued with four-way stops. Ugh - don't make us slow down! Let us careen
about at high speeds like we were meant to!
