I didn't say he was a hypocrite. What I meant that his cabinet appointments
are not conducive to the bipartisan spirit he campaigned on, especially his
picks for Interior and Attorney General. I would go so far as to say that he
has picked a fight.
As far as my politics, I don't think I'm very far to the left of Gore, if at
all. The biggest differences I have with him are probably drug policy, and
National Missile Defense (which I think is a dangerous farce), and the Clinton
administration has been lukewarm on the later. I disagreed strongly with Gore
on the Gonzalez affair, but understand the political nature of the situation.
Let me point out that when I discuss the relative merits of communism and
capitalism et al, I'm taking the kind of very long term idealistic
observations that would spell political suicide to any candidate for political
office (outside of Santa Cruz, Ca. anyway 8^) ). I think that the U.S. is
obviously successful economically and politically and that any changes should
be of the "tweak" variety. I do believe in continual, progressive change as
imperative to the efficacy of government and indeed human civilization.
