I swear, some people can place elitist meanings into anything. I love DB's
work, but sometimes it seems like he's so certain that his "weltanschauung"
is the absolutely correct one that he sees the inequities of classism in
everything.
One can only assume he hates similar journeys of discovery in fantasy
literature, a la Joseph Campbell's _Hero with a Thousand Faces_, like _The
Sword of Shannara_ and David Eddings' _Belgariad_ as well.
Ironically, Gillian Baskin, Tom Orley, and Captain Creidiki (sp?) are
referred to several times as the best humanity has to offer. I guess since
they're presumably apolitical, it's not the same thing.
