Why do things have to make sense or be consistent?
And, this is my take: surely it is most just and best for society to have a
legal structure allowing abortions (before, say 12-14 weeks) in order to
prevent the sort of back street butchery of the past, but have a strong
adoption policy and good education in order to discourage abortions?
As an adoptee, I do have strong feelings on this, it's easy for me to
imagine a world in which I was never born thanks to abortion.
