Question and a bit of devil's advocate at the same time-
In the early scenes with the young pres/Mrs. L, she know he would "do it"
because of his behaviors, but do what? The harder thing? The "right" thing?
Stand up to his dad? Did I assume this or was it specifically mentioned?
(the VCR was not running at this house, as a matter of fact it has taken to
eating tapes this weekend).
It may be easy to assume any or all of the above, but what if the "right
thing" in his mind is to recognize the "harder road" is to not run and then
transition all the staff who would now be behind another candidate/ the VP.
Wasn't there some comment to him by the "ghost" in the end about his "having
a bad day", was that her slapping him for being petulant (I seem to recall it
was a bit caustic for the character) that it was not about his desires, but
something bigger (he has wanted to run again in spite of deals with the wife,
etc). If the writers are already converting CJ's style to the new repub
press sec, there will be transitions of other characters... all camelots end.
I still tend to hang with the opinion of the rest of you, those thoughts just
keep tickling my brain on commutes.
