And, of course, as a gurl I'm exempt from the draft, and even should a 
war come around that I would *not* consider myself morally obliged to 
protest (something I cannot forsee happening in the near future, but who 
knows) they probably wouldn't take me, since I have a history of athsma 
and am nearsighted as hell. 

But let me just emphasize, once more, that I am *not* dissing the folks 
who fought in *any* war, be they brave defenders of freedom or unwilling 
draftees. They fought and they died and it meant a lot to them, and I 
would never, *ever* question that. And FYI, I used to live next to a WWII 
POW. I didn't get as much of a chance to talk to him as I would have 
liked before he died, but he was one of the neatest people I've ever met- 
and one of the most sardonic towards the American government, as well.
