I think (but am only 95% sure) that Voyager let itself get tractored into
the pursuing Sphere; when the Sphere popped out in the Alpha quadrant
Voyager blew it up from within.
For that to work, presumably they transferred all energy from warp and
weapons to shields to survive the destruction of the Sphere. They also must
have been fairly sure that the Sphere would exit in the Alpha quadrant; the
Sphere would be forced to keep ahead of the shockwave and the conduit
terminated in the Alpha quadrant so that was a reasonable guess.
