How cynical?  I cast no aspersions on the sacrifice or the cause...just
pointed out that (over and over through history, actually) the right
combination of hormones and social circumstances will cause young men to
embrace the risk of death en masse.  The worthiness of the cause as *we*
see it *today* has little to do with it; the young men must merely believe
it good at the time.

Granted, the ones that don't die quickly get real cautious real fast.
