I'm sorry to hear about that kind of trouble. Not being a lawyer I can't say
with 100% conviction that something like your trouble will not happen here,
or that if it does happen that we would have an easier and cheaper time
fighting in the courts. I do know that verbal contract are usually inforced
by the courts so I can't imagine that a written one would have a tougher
time. Recently a relative had issues with three different companies and got
satisfaction with just a well written fact based letter. No threats, no
emotion, just your product was supposed to do this, it did this instead, and
I want it fixed.
Are there no other ways to get help? If this is a pattern of abuse by this
company then couldn't a group of customers get together, to reduce the cost
and the time?
Not being flippant but maybe this is why other countries do seem to worry
about big business. People worry about it here also but I mostly think it's
no big deal. While I don't agree with the Microsoft - government suit, or
the tabacco settlement, it does show that the government does try to enforce
the laws.
