The bilirubin count was down again, at 14. (Friday's was 18.3.) But they
want it down to 9. We get to keep Sammy on the light blanket for a few
days, and then take him in to get his heel stabbed yet *again* (and I'm
really feeling for the poor woman who's had to do it every time so far) on
Thursday. She said today she'd like to see him sometime where she didn't
have to do that to him. (It was really bad today, too -- she had a hard
time getting enough blood quickly enough, and he was screaming for a lot
of it. And there's a limit as to what you can do while all this is going
on. Fortunately, he was able to get back to sleep even before we got him
into the car, unlike last Thursday, where he was fussing until we got to
our street....)

On the upside, I'm spending about half my waking time in the dining room,
where we have him set up to get whatever extra UV comes through the window
after some scattering, and when he's asleep I'm actually able to *read*,
which I hadn't been able to do until 2 days ago (Saturday). (The amusing
bits of the local newspaper don't count as "reading".) I finished
_Midnight Robber_ by Nalo Hopkinson, which is one of the novels nominated
for the Hugo, and I pulled out a couple of old Star Trek novels (written
in the 1970s) for some light reading after that.

(I thought _Midnight Robber_ was a good novel, but I wouldn't recommed it
if you have major incest issues. Just a warning.)
