Can't speak for anyone else, but the problem with the shuttle program isn't 
the shuttle; it's that NASA hasn't really done much of anything else (in the 
manned space program, at least) *except* the shuttle. (Before the ISS, that 
is.) NASA seems to have forgotten about the Moon, which to me is a major 
blunder and even tragedy. The shuttle is fine; it's just not enough.
