Be glad you don't have what we call "sweet gum" trees:  In addition to 
leaves, they produce copious quantities of little "balls" about 2-3 cm (or 
1 inch) in diameter.  They are difficult to rake up, impossible to vacuum 
up, and are firm enough to provide a hazard not unlike trying to walk on 
marbles . . .
