In which case my death would be *my* fault (I should have gone to see a
doctor earlier), not the government's fault.

Last time I checked, we had specialists, even though they are expensive.
Generalists don't treat such diseases themselves because they aren't
qualified for it, so they send you to a specialist.

If your condition demands a MR scan asap, you become a high priority case.
If even then, waiting lists are too long, your doctor will try to find an
other place for you to have your scan. Abroad, if necessary.
