There is evidence in documents recovered after the war that they were
planning a biological attack on the CONUS in November 1945, under the code
name "Operation Lotus Blossom at Night." They had tested the germs on
Chinese villages and on prisoners of war, who were vivisected without
anaesthesia because of the possibility drugs might have interfered with the
results.
