I would argue that very few people starve. In addition even if we were to
suddenly alter the political climate such that we were willing to spend
unlimited amounts on poverty (or say most of the current military budget)
that would not solve the poverty issue. Human problems are more complex more
difficult to solve and more intractable than technical problems (I would
suggest that missle defense as difficult as it is to do is easier than
solving poverty).
