Notice that I said "*part* of the entire power need". This means that the
rest of the power will come from other sources, most likely the regular
power grid. If the solar panels quit, you just draw more power from the
grid. So, unless the solar panels and the power plant both quit working at
the same time, your elevators and lights will keep going.

If you get stuck between floors, it's probably the elevator itself that is
experiencing technical problems.
