To a certain extent this is true. The wealthy have access to many things both
necessary and frivolous that the poor do not. I frankly don't think this will
ever change. I don't see you volunteering to give up your (by comparison)
wealthy life style to help a truly empoverished third world person get needed
services (Of course I don't see you at all and I don't know what you do to
help the truly destitute of the world so don't take this as a personal insult
just a general observation about those of us who safely inhabit the western
middle class). But the market does not necessarily mean that the poor have no
power. There are a lot of them, even if you spend less per capita on them it
still adds up. Some one or some organization can still make a very nice
living off servicing the poor. There are no shortage of takers both public
and private willing to try.
