Actually, they're not lasers, they're blasters. Blasters are particle
burst weapons and their shots are fairly fast but NOT
lightspeed...which is why you can see the shots moving.

Well, lasers punch small holes in stuff...blaster bolts explode when
they hit.

Well, the armour is a badge as well as being armour. Although the
books mention that after being beatern up by the Ewoks,
stormtroopers DID introduce camoflague armour for some
operations...

Well, their side portions on the TIE fighters ARE solar pannels,
actually...which are generaly black.
