By that same rationalization, they don't even *need* a lightsaber. All
they have to do is dodge.

Speed is not an issue here. We have to assume that all capital
ships can travel at roughly the same speed because both Star
Trek and Star Wars take place on a galactic stage and have
comparable durations (if anything SW is faster, as characters
routinely travel between distant worlds in a matter of hours,
whereas in ST it takes days.)
The only difference seems that ST ships can fight while in warp,
while SW ships must leave hyperspace in order to fight.
