WHy is it such a horrible inconvenience if people cannot talk on the phone
while DRIVINGT???? that means there is something FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG WITH
OUR SOCIETY, especially if we put convenience before preventing
accidents. Should someone die for your convenience?

If only you could just get out of the car and walk. CAR DEPENDENCE is the
fundamental evil. I often enviy smaller or island nations because they are
forced to learn efficiency and that small is beautiful. We are the most
wasteful country on the planet because we have too much sheer geographic
terrirory. (Australia doesn't count. Most of the outback isn't heavily
settled or crisscrosed with freeways.)
For instance if the UK or some european nationa started subsidizing
instead of taxing oil and repeald all gas taxes and had fuel as cheap as
ours, would that create a market for Ford Excursions there? No - becauset
they literally wouldn't fit in the narrow roads and the centuries old
infrastructure.

repeal the Louisiana Purchase...naw, what we need is some serious
continental drift, but mega-earthquakes would be pretty bad....
