Believe it or not, I actually wrote a short piece like this for a history
class in the 8th grade. We were studying the colonization of the New
World by nations like Spain and Portugal, and we were assigned a "creative
project" to illustrate the themes and issues involved. I wrote it as a
series of log entries by a junior-level priest on a spaceship sent to
proselytize the galaxy.
