Having been a 'Gentile' behind the 'Zion' curtain, I would strongly argue
that the issue is related to censorship. The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints has a great deal of control over what is published in the
city. By The Trib being sold to an outside company, they lose the ability to
use this medium in the degree it is used now. Forget Market share, this is
about Mind share!
Despite the appearance of the Trib being unbiased as the Deseret News is
biased toward mormon culture, they both wield opinions coming from a common
source. I believe that a sale of the Tribune to a "foreign" company is being
fought, not for the cause of Free Enterprise, but to hold onto control of
what the public reads. If I may quote the Mormons - "There must needs be an
opposition in all things.".
