Jeroen, instead of using www.amazon.com, have you ever tried
www.amazon.co.uk, the British version of Amazon? I don't know if they would
get the books at the same time as the US version, but shipping might be
significantly cheaper.
I found out about amazon.co.uk when I was looking for the original British
version of the Harry Potter books (same story, no extra/deleted scenes, but
a few little changes in terminology, like Sorcerer's Stone vs. Philosopher's
Stone...) and Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere (a few scenes are left out of the
British edition, mostly explaining stuff a Londoner would understand anyway,
and some jokes are left out of the US version, mostly stuff that most
Americans wouldn't get anyway). They were very efficient, and not horribly
expensive iirc.
