I'd like to have the first set of votes by the end of the month. If all
goes well, this can go on indefinitely, and I can re-tabulate the scores
every month or two.

Actually, I think it will work better if we change the colon to a
period.  Some of the book titles have colons in them, and that makes the
vote counting program a bit more complicated.

So let's make it

<book #> = <rating>

The program will look for the first = on a line, and then look for the
numbers (ignoring whitespace) immediately to the left and right of the =
sign.

You can just copy the relevant portions of the list and insert an = sign
with the rating right after the book number. That way you can keep track
more easily of what books you have voted for since the text will be
there too.

Or if you prefer, you can just type the number, =, and rating on
a line with nothing else.
