Like watching a movie (4th of July, Mars attacks) but with not quite the
same feeling of excitement. <ie it feels terrible>
Michiel called me at work, we were stunned and looked online for
confirmation. Then my mom called in tears, from Spain, having just zapped
across to CNN after a day's work. It didn't quite register big time till I
got home and saw everything on tv... It is so huge. Really unbelievable. But
real.
I've watched the various Dutch newsreports, the Belgian news, the BBC, the
BBC world Service, and CNN. It feels like an attack on the Western world,
not just the US. People are scared that Brussels will be targeted next. Or
London. Or hey, why not The Hague (where I happen to work and live). There's
been loads of terrorism in Europe recently, so it's not hard to imagine
something happening nearby. Even if this is on such a huge scale...
I'm rambling. I don't know what I wanted to say. Words cannot... I'm glad
the people I know on this list seem to be ok. My heart goes out to everyone
who has or will be hurt by this. I hope all your loved ones turn up safe.
