You tossed me into a box with those words, undeservedly. I was fighting back against the very notion of putting people into such boxes. And I took the opportunity to expand into criticism of Gautam's righteous-wing American fundamentalism, an extreme example of tossing people into boxes, which you should, indeed, not take personally... ;-)
Nick You know, Nick, your inability to carry on an argument without ad-hominem attacks is kind of pathetic in someone who has pretensions towards carrying on rational debate. Once again I find that I cannot discuss something with you in any sort of civil terms, since you clearly see yourself as so superior to those who disagree with you that you have no wish to do that. This will thus, again, be my final response. I note, first, that fundamentalist is a very bad thing to call someone in right of recent events. But common courtesy never restrained you before, why should it start now? Second, that I am not the one who makes dubious claims about how my supposedly religiously derived morality makes me superior to those who disagree with me - that would be you. That is what a fundamentalist does after all. Which one of us is better described by the term? A particularly strange position since the religious tradition that you claim supports you has very, very large strains that don't, at all. Whether you are willfully ignorant of them, or just don't care, is not something that I can judge. Further, as I am not Christian, your narrow-minded and intolerant attempts to impose a Christian moral framework (one that doesn't actually even resemble the Christianity that I revere as the greatest ethical code that ever existed) is even more inappropriate. That, however, is between you and your God. Someone who uses their religion as nothing more than a way of showing their own imagined moral superiority degrades only themselves. And third, as you constantly echo those in your box, I see no reason not to believe that you are in one - say something new and original - if you can - and I'll believe that you aren't in one. Don't, and I won't. So far, you haven't. Gautam
