My brother's family is going to deep-fry a turkey for the first time. They raise two or three a year. You'd expect the kids to get upset about eating the pets but since they own and live next to cemeteries, they understand death very well. I don't know what else they will make. One year they had 27 people, almost half were kids from 1 year to 17. We had lots of food left over. I know there will be five less this year, but there should still be 18.
My mom makes apple pie. After the bottom crust is in she butters it then POURS sugar over the bottom, which makes it crisp and sweet. And she has a mixture that the apples are in, the apples are about 1/16 slices, with the mixture it is super moist. I've never had apple pie that tastes this way, and as good. She also makes that green bean casserole, covered with canned fried onions, that no one eats. For me it's turkey, both light and dark, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, and a tall glass of milk. Nothing else. One year my sister in law only had a half gallon cartoon in the fridge, I noticed this when I was mashing the potatoes and asked where the rest of the milk was. She laughed and said 'You don't need that much for the potatoes!' My brother and I looked at her like she had horns on her head. Ah memories. Kevin T.
