Not that there is no threat at all, of course... just that there has always 
been a threat and that it probably hasn't increased all that much since 
9/11.  What has changed is our perceptions.

I don't know... is this some sort of blasphemy?

(Of course I already know that I'm a heretic for believing that it's 
possible to have security without sacrificing liberty, and that dissent is 
an essential part of democracy, but what the hell.)
