To the north.  Portions of Syria and Lebanon, Iraq.  The edges may cross
somewhat.

Sumerian towns and cities included Eridu, Nippur, Lagash, Kish, and Ur. 

Cananites is kind of a collective for several 'ites' tribes that lived in
the area but were pretty much killed and driven out by Israel/Judah.
