I always read those lines as the change in Bilbo was in Frodo's perception
not in the reality of Bilbo.  So I didn't have any problem with the way the
change was handled in the movie, but more with Bilbo's reaction.  I would
have envisioned something where Bilbo would say "What's wrong, Frodo?".
Then from the look of horror on Frodo's face, he'd realize what happened and
perhaps then break down.

A very minor nit.  I thought it was well done over all.
