<serious> Its pretty much ridiculous to get into a flame war about some subject in the "real world" that has little impact in our lives. So, for all but Ilana, discussing Israel- Palestine to the point of heated arguments is, IMHO, absurd.
OTOH, it becomes *much* more ridiculous to get into a flame war about _The List_. Its Ridiculous, Level Two. People who know me understand how difficult its keeping in serious mode -- because I cant stay serious when I see everybody playing a game of who-is-smarter-than-who But this heated discussion about _list workings_ is far below anything else - and its getting close to the tone of the discussion that preceded the disaster of June/2000. So, let me propose: (a) state what you _think_ should be the workings of the listowners (b) state what you _think_ should be the method for making a listmember a listowner, or the method for removing a listowner (c) when giving examples, _avoid_ mentioning past events, that will drain the attention too much Oh, and before someone asks, this is _my_ opinion: (a) listowners should control the technical aspects of the moderation, by blocking spammers and those that violate technical aspects of the rules. By technical aspects I would include attachments, name-calling, shouting, but I happily accept that technical aspects be reduced just to spam and attachments, leaving name-calling and shouting to self-moderation (b) listowners should be people with access availability, and some computer skills, and semi-lurkers [who dont get too much involved in discussions] are better for the job (c) I think I covered this in (a) and (b) Alberto Monteiro </serious>
