I know at TMI they still have the spent fuel rods on-site, and they are re-fueling right now so there will be that much more. I was surprised the number was that low, only 300 cubic meters. Isn't there other items that have to be added to that total? It's not like you can just take the fuel rods out of it's cases, store the fuel, and turn the cases into soda cans. Are there different types of nuclear waste? Is hospital waste something else, can it be stored in the same place? What are the storage barrels like? About the size of a 55 gallon drum?* How much material can go in each? I know for decades PA was a dumping ground for NY and other states trash. At some places instead of mind fields they were putting it into exausted coal mines.* No linings or anything; now they have massive ground water problems.
