Not being too lectrical, in Oz we have 240 V nationwide. Plugs use 3 pins, one of which is the Earth. Not as substantial a plug as the Brits use, but pretty hefty. Lots of electrical equipment uses only two pins (not earthed). To add to Kevin's shocking memories, I can remember at age 13 using my finger in the Birko electrical jug to test the water temperature.
