The Netherlands uses 220V with a live and a neutral wire. Belgium and Germany
use 230 V with live and neutral wire, and the UK is (IIRC) 110 with two live
wires. As for the rest of Europe I don't know.

And if you touch a live wire you can jump of the fifth step of a ladder without
getting hurt. As demonstrated by the electrician who was just explaining to me
how easy it is to work safely when working with electricity ..... <grin> OK in
his defence I have to say that all electrical wiring in this house isn't as
logical as it should be. It's safe,  but not logical. I've been 'shocked' about
the way things are connected here a few times myself. And I use a detector most
of the time to make sure live wires are dead for the time I'm working on them.
