Peace might just have come a little closer to Angola: UNITA leader Jonas 
Savimbi was killed last Friday by government troops. Unita has been 
fighting the government ever since the country gained independence from 
Portugal; the conflict is estimated to have killed more than 500,000 
people, and displaced hundreds of thousands of others.
