>From what we get from the newspapers, we had a site
that was prepared to host the explosion of an A-Bomb.
br president Collor destroyed that site, in a show
of propaganda, when he officially cancelled the secret
nuclear project.

OTOH, its so easy to build an A-Bomb that I wouldnt
be surprised if they did build them and then unmade
them.

For example, in gov.br official site...
http://www.mct.gov.br/Temas/nuclear/evolucao.htm
... when they describe the evolution of the nuclear
program, there is a _huge_ gap from 1979 to 1995,
where "nothing" was done.

Also, in Collors page...
http://www.collor.com/dis_novmex.htm
... he writes:

Mistranslation:

About the br nuclear plan, my g*vernment did the best
possible: the end of the nuclear adventure and the end
of confrontation. Even though the atomic project was
secret, I had known about it before I became president.
After that, consulting my military assessors, I decided
that all efforts of the g*vernment should be concentrated
on the economy and I stopped the adventure.

[he continues saying that Argentina had a secret nuclear
and biological project too, and that they cancelled theirs
after we cancelled ours]
