What you could do (and I'm not suggesting you do it, but merely offering it as a possible alternative) is browse over to www.hotmail.com (or one of the other free email websites), register for a free account, and use that account to post to the brin list. I use this email account for only brin-related stuff and get no spam at it, whereas on AOL even if I'm not using an email address at all, I get spam. I use multiple hotmail accounts to sort my email. Brin-related stuff comes to this one, jms-related stuff to another, digital audio and music composition stuff to yet another... It's a couple of extra steps to go through for email, but it does have the advantage of being free and being accessible from any computer anywhere as long as it's connected to the internet and has a web browser. Again, I'm not condemning you for using AOL, just offering a suggestion in case you would like to continue to use AOL without having to deal with it's email system, which IMHO sucks. I hate the fact that it only keeps emails for a month. On Hotmail, the only limit is the amount of space, and it gives you 2 megs for free (you can pay for more, but why when you can just create another account for long term storage... not that I'd ever do that...
