I use this email account for only brin-related stuff and get no spam at it, whereas on AOL even if I'm not using an email address at all, I get spam.>> Reggie, I very much appreciate your suggestions, and am thankful as well for the polite manner and tone in which you made them. I want to make very clear at the beginning of this post that what I’m posting below is not directed at you directly, or anyone else who has taken the time to make constructive and helpful suggestions. Thank you. If my posts from home are annoying large groups of people, then I am willing to work on the problem in order to correct them. (Although I may not do so until after 4/1... I'm getting married out of state in less than 2 weeks and am going bonkers with the details.) I will, in any case, look into Hotmail, see about some offlist-suggested freeware and also check if it is possible to change the settings on my home computer’s AOL program (thank you Nick). But I will not do anything that, in my opinion, inconveniences me. That includes getting another ISP. I should be allowed to post to the Brin-L list from **ANY** ISP. Until the list rules say otherwise, I will continue to do what is convenient for me and I urge other AOL users to do the same. Yes, it’s a matter of politeness to post only in plaintext for those of us who receive the digest or use older equipment. But, if someone is **unable** to post in plaintext, then it is the ultimate in rudeness and arrogance to tell them to “get another ISP” because they are inconveniencing you. For those of you who have done so on and offlist, who the hell do you think you are to make a demand like that?!?!? We have as much a right to be here as you do, or anyone else – perhaps more so, since I don’t make obnoxious demands that other listmembers change Internet providers for my convenience. As you may have noted, I asked the listowners onlist if Brin-l is going to discriminate against AOL users. If we’re not wanted here, then the list should put a disclaimer on the website, or simply bar subscriptions to us. The answer I’ve gotten offlist (paraphrased) is that *anyone* is entitled to be a subscriber and participate. And that’s just what I’m going to do. By the way Reggie I get no (none, nada, zip) spam mail on this or 2 other AOL accounts. There’s no trick to it, I’m merely very very careful about how and where I surf and what cookies I accept. AOL just sucks. I'm not thrilled with it, but it's all I've got for now. :-) Jon [EMAIL PROTECTED]
