As a temporary memorial (while they decide what to do with the site), they have erected twin searchlights on the grounds of the World Trade Center (or, I guess, clusters of searchlights) beaming two "towers of light" into the night sky over Lower Manhattan. There is as yet no consensus on what to do permanently on the site. Some want to turn it into a permanent memorial of some sort. Others want to rebuild the Twin Towers (although trying to make them more durable). Others want a peace park or a more modest building, or some kind of mixed use.
